The key is passing HB 174, which would raise the state income tax by two percentage points and provide some property tax relief.
HB 174 has passed the senate but has not yet been voted on in the House.

IEA members are asked to help to pass legislation that will:
- Put the state on solid financial footing,
- Help give every student the opportunity to attend a great public school,
- Protect the retirement benefits for education employees.
The key is passing HB 174, which would raise the state income tax by two percentage points and provide some property tax relief.
HB 174 has passed the senate but has not yet been voted on in the House.
IEA members are asked to contact their House members via phone or email and tell them the following:
As your constituent and as a member of IEA, I urge you to:
- Reject any proposals to cut benefits for new state employees
- Make the scheduled payment to the state pension systems
- Support education by voting for HB 174.
